Hapai Te Hauora and the Dental Association are calling on Education Minister Nikki Kaye to back ‘water only’ schools.
Hapai chief executive Lance Norman says getting sugary drinks out of schools is a long-standing issue for the Maori public health advocacy group.
He pointed to Auckland’s Kelston Boys’ High School, which as part of this week’s Men’s Health Week held a walk for water to raise funds for a new water fountain and to provide students with water bottles.
