Morgan keynote for Mana AGM
Maori Party president Tukoroirangi Morgan has been lined up for a prime speaking slot at the Mana annual meeting in Whangarei tomorrow.
Mana leader Hone Harawira says that doesn’t signal any closer alignment than the two parties not standing against each other in the Maori seats.
That means Mr Harawira has a clear run against Labour’s Kelvin Davis in Te Taitokerau, but Mana has no presence in the other six Maori seats.
"I do have concerns about the policies they are promoting but that doesn't say I'd rather not have them than the Labour Party or National. I would rather stand alongside the Maori Party any day and do my best to bring a more Mana flavour to what they are doing as colleagues, than try to change National or Labour’s politics," he says.
The AGM will also hear from west Auckland social worker Shane White on tackling the scourge on P in communities, and about the prospects of scaling up the Opening the Curtains social work initiative he is running in the far north.
