The Green Party has selected list MP Marama Davidson as its candidate for Tamaki Makaurau.
While the Greens say they are targeting the party vote, the Manurewa resident won 3136 electorate votes in 2014, more than double incumbent Peeni Henare’s margin of victory.
With Mana standing aside this election, her personal support could tip the balance for the Maori Party’s Shane Taurima.
Ms Davidson, from Te Rarawa, Ngapuhi, Ngati Porou, is the Greens' Maori development spokesperson and also holds the social housing, human rights and Pacific peoples portfolios.
