Te Ao Maori mourn the loss of Tomairangi Paki


The Kahui Ariki and Waikato Tainui are mourning Kiritokia E Te Tomairangi Adrianne Gail Paki, the sister of the Maori king, who died today aged 64.
Ms Paki was last year made a life member of the Tainui Cultural Trust for her contribution to kapa haka over four decades performing and tutoring Taniwharau.
In 1981, the year she became its youngest female tutor and leader, the group became the only Tainui team to win the national Duncan Macintyre Trophy.
She will be at Te Puea Marae overnight Monday before being taken back to Waahi Paa in Huntly tomorrow morning.
