Royal endorsement for new kiwifruit HQ
The Maori king has opened a new head office in Te Puke for New Zealand’s largest kiwifruit grower Seeka.
King Tuheitia said the Kingitanga had a long association with Tauranga Moana, and Maori trusts make up the largest New Zealand shareholder group in the listed company.
He says Seeka has been a committed partner helping iwi develop their resources.
Seeka has spent more than a year and $4 million rebuilding, modernising and customising the 18-sided, 1200 square metre former tourist centre shaped like a kiwifruit slice.
The building will house about 80 staff, and the company intends to develop the rest of the 7.5 hectare site into a campus for all aspects of the business.
