Extras loaded onto Maori land bill

Te Ture Whenua Maori Bill will be tabled in the house today, giving people a chance to see what is likely to be the final version of the massive overhaul of Maori land law.
Drafts of the bill have been criticised by lawyers, Maori land trusts, Maori Land Court Judges, and Opposition MPs, but constantly changing versions means it has been a moving target.
Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell says he has been through a lengthy negotiation with cabinet about its final shape, including the inclusion of new elements he says will offer greater protection to landowners.
"The final product is pretty much done and dusted now with the additions to the Bill that came through from select committee. As well as other additions that i've been working on such as things around the Public Works. All of that has landed in a good place," says Te Ururoa Flavell.
