Tane suicide prevention stories shared

The national Maori and Pasifika suicide prevention programme Waka Hourua has released a new resource to help communities in their efforts to prevent suicide among tane Maori.
Programme lead Tio Sewell says the solutions and the people to implement them are to be found within Maori communities.
Te Patutu Oranga describes a number of successful suicide prevention initiatives.
Mr Sewell says the key is building the capacity and capability of communities and their whanau regarding tane ora or the well being of Maori men and boys.
Even though internationally suicide prevention programmes tend to be measured over one or two decades, Waka Hourua says its programme is already showing measurable results.
