Polyfest spectacular for Maori Television

Maori Television is upping its coverage of this year's ASB Polyfest.
The Auckland Secondary Schools Maori and Pacific Islands Cultural Festival takes place at the Manukau Sports Bowl from Wednesday to Saturday next week, March 15 to 18.
Tagged as the largest Maori and Pacific festival in the world, it will feature close to 10,000 students from more than 60 schools.
Every kapa haka performance on Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi Maori Stage will be broadcast in its entirety on the 100 per cent Maori language channel, Te Reo, from Thursday to Sunday.
Each roopu's performance will be repackaged and featured in its own half-hour show on Maori Television and Te Reo – a total of some 50 episodes starting in June.
They will be presented by HAHANA host Sonny Ngatai and will feature assistance from student presenters from each school, post-performance interviews backstage, and behind the scenes features from Division 1 schools.
Each school's whakaeke will be uploaded to the Maori Television website on the same day as their performance, with the complete performance to be uploaded after broadcast.
The website is also where people can go to vote for the people's choice award.
