Whanau involvement aim for wananga

The new Hoe Whakatere for Te Wananga o Aotearoa’s Te Ihu Auckland and Northland regions says getting more whanau involved in education is a key goal for the organisation.
Bernard Te Paa comes to the job after a 20 year career in public sector organisations including councils and health boards.
He says the wananga’s focus is not just the individual tauira but the opportunities that can be created for their whanau.
"That means more whanau doing the courses we provide, a real focus on some of those vocational opportunities, particularly in Northland where there are a number of those courses that are vocationally focused, and being able to start that journey around education for some of our whanau for the very first time," Mr Te Paa says.
