Wairau Maori Art Gallery a step closer
The Hundertwasser Art Gallery and Wairau Maori Art Gallery are a step closer to being built with Northland Regional Council committing $1.5million to the project.
The council voted yesterday to take the money from its Investment Growth Reserve Fund after hearing the galleries would bring an additional $22 million a year to the Northland region.
The Hundertwasser Project Team has now found 90 percent of the $16.25 million it wants to start construction by June 30.
Prosper Northland Trust Chairman Barry Trass says the project has taken on great regional and national significance and forms a prominent part of the Tai Tokerau Northland Economic Action Plan.
