Ngai Tahu forges ahead winning top business award


Ngai Tahu Tourism has won the Maori Excellence in Export category in this year’s New Zealand International Business Awards.
Accepting the award last night at Auckland’s Skycity Convention Centre on behalf of the company and Ngai Tahu whanui, Sir Tipene O’Regan said it was an incredible accolade and testament to the hard work and dedication of the team.
He says by sharing Ngai Tahu’s stories and the stories from the regions where it operates, Ngai Tahu Tourism is able to deliver an authentic experience visitors can’t get anywhere else.
More than a million visitors a year go through Ngai Tahu Tourism 25 attractions, including jet boating, astro-tourism, guided walks, helicopter tours and glacier hot pools.
Its international revenue has grown by 33 percent over the past three years through a focus on key markets including China, India, South East Asia, Korea, the United States, and the UK.
Other finalists in the He kai kei aku ringa category were Kiwa Digital and Straker Translations.
