FOMA and fisheries trust team up to mentor new leaders

Te Putea Whakatupu Trust has teamed up with the Federation of Maori Authorities to create a programme aimed at supporting emerging leaders through mentoring and coaching.
The trust administers money from the Maori fisheries settlement that is supposed to benefit urban Maori, so the new programme will be watched closely to see how it complies with that objective.
The trust currently runs scholarships to support Maori studying at the tertiary level in commerce, agribusiness and fisheries.
The programme will be launched at the FOMA annual conference starting in Hamilton on Friday.
FOMA chair Traci Houpapa says the two organisations are long time strategic partners.
She says FOMA members can support each other to grow their leadership capability, which is critical to ensure economic, cultural and environmental sustainability.
