IMSB asks court to uphold sites of value list
The chair of Auckland's Independent Maori Statutory Board believes the board has a good chance of getting a list of sites of value to Mana Whenua back into the Unitary Plan.
The board is one of more than 100 groups and individuals who have lodged appeals to the massive planning document signed off by Auckland Council last month.
Mr Taipari says a lot of work went into the schedule over the past four years, and officials recommended it be retained.
But the full council voted to drop it.
"That's the political decision of councillors at that governing body which we are no part of and we think that decision was technically incorrect. Where its is good for us is our independent status means we can challenge that to make sure the plan is robust for all Aucklanders," Mr Taipari says.
It's likely the appeals will drag into next year.
