A glimmer of hope in America

A glimmer of hope in America
MARTYN ' BOMBER' BRADBURY
The extraordinary scenes last week in America with big oil contractors setting dogs on Native American's protesting the theft and use of ancient burial land to build an oil pipe line have been met with an even more extraordinary turn of events.
The Dakota Access Pipeline Company have been ramming through the building of a $3.8billion oil pipe line that will connect their oil fields to Illinois. The development has been fought every step pf the way by a resurgent Native American population who have used social media to highlight their plight and the brutal tactics used against them.
It's only the latest chapter in the brutal history of Genocide perpetrated against the Native American people, but the latest turn of events has surprised many.
Predictably, the terribly compromised local Judiciary ruled against the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's request for an injunction against the US Government, but immediately following that the Army, Department of Justice and the Department of the Interior jointly announced a halt to all building on Corps land by The Dakota Access Pipeline Company.
Born from a disgraceful and unjust history of extermination, those Government agencies with the most blood on their hands have this time stood with the descendants of those injustices.to stop a new one from occurring.
This is by no means an end to the protest or the new found power Native American's have generated through Social Media, but it is hope that the voices of those denied attention can and will change the hearts of those who have wronged.
