Bishara returning to the ngahere.
Te Mangai Paho chief executive John Bishara is quitting to work fulltime for his iwi.
He will become chief executive of the Lake Taupo Forest Trust.
Te Mangai Paho chair Piri Sciascia says over the past 11 years he led the Maori broadcast funding agency through the establishment of Maori Television and the move into new media and technology platforms.
He has built a strong and capable team that along with the Maori broadcasting sector has delivered increased Maori language content year on year.
The agency recently mandated te reo content on iwi radio for the year ahead, from 8 to 10.5 hours a day.
Mr Bishara, who chairs the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board and Tongariro-Taupo Conservation Board, began his working life as a forestry labourer/cadet and returns forty years later to manage the iwi’s forestry interests.
