Te Reo Irirangi o Maniapoto turns 25

Te Reo Irirangi o Maniapoto is today celebrating its 25th anniversary of broadcasting to people of Te Kuiti and the northern King Country.
Station manager Jaqui Taituha says its aim is to cater for both fluent speakers of te reo Maori as well as people who want to know what’s happening on their home patch.
"It’s a place where even now you can tune in and in a few minutes you will know it's Te Reo Irirangi o Maniapoto because you will hear te reo from our people spreading not only messages and stories from our people but how people think about things and their opinions on kaupapa that is important to us in the Maniapoto King Country region," she says.
Jaqui Taituha says the challenge the station over the next 25 years will be to keep up with the technological challenges and platforms that will allow the wider dissemination of the reo.
