MFM celebrates 25 years broadcasting to it's people
Te Reo Irirangi o Maniapoto (MFM) is one of 21 Iwi Radio Satations who broadcast independently throughout Aotearoa on frequencies which are specifically reserved for the promotion of the Maori language and culture. From humble beginnings in a small room along Te Kumi Road, Te Kuiti, we have a rich heritage dating back 25 years. At MFM our work ethic embraces and upholds our well known slogan, 'whanake ake", which means to develop and prosper.
MFM broadcasts a mix of live and pre-recorded bilingual shows, designed to target our whanau of Maniapoto. Being Maniapoto owned and operated, we embrace all that happens in our community and help bring iwi events, activities and issues to our listeners both within our on-air broadcast area and around the world via our online activity.
We are the only local mainstream radio station based in Te Kuiti. Our modern space includes an upgraded production facility, a "live" studio, several recording studios and an open planned office area to cater for the ever growing world of modern communication and technology. Listeners from throughout our broadcast footprint can tune in via four different frequencies (Rereahu 91.8FM, Piopio 92.7FM, Waitomo 99.6FM & Waipa106.2FM) or hear us live online at www.mfm.co.nz – anywhere in the world!
Our inclusive focus is about receptive and fluent whanau of te reo Maori, who love Maniapoto and want to know what's happening in their rohe. At MFM we challenge ourselves to provide a unique Maniapoto perspective by encouraging and strengthening the normalisation of te reo Maori through the medium of modern communications.
As the communication hub for the iwi, we are committed to being engaged and involved with our communities and to be of service to our people.
