Casting call for Asher

The new interim chair of Nga Aho Whakaari is keen to see more Maori scripts and short films coming out of the film and television umbrella group.
Christina Asher slipped into the seat after Whetu Fala stepped aside to join the board of Maori Television.
She has worked in a range of roles in the industry including acting, dancing and choreograophy, and she’s runs her own casting company.
She’s keen to get input from the many occupations that make up the industry, and to build on the progress made by her predecessor.
"Whetu’s done a great job in raising funding and we are able to start some great initiatives this year. We want to develop some Maori film scripts in te reo and we will have another set of short films we will commission so it's a big take and we want to get it done before Christmas," Ms Asher says.
