Treaty Bar Culled
A blow for treaty claimants but good news for the courts.
Wellington Queen’s Counsel Helen Cull, one of the most experienced barristers working in treaty cases, has been appointed a Judge of the High Court.
She has acted in a range of significant claims before the Waitangi Tribunal and the courts, including fisheries, water and the Waikato River and Dams Claim.
She has also undertaken two International Court of Justice missions and conducted 14 inquiries including the Scampi Inquiry, the Adverse Medical Events Inquiry, the Fire Services Inquiry and significant medico-legal and mental health inquiries.
The new judge will sit in Wellington.
