Whetu Fala picked for Maori TV board


The electoral college Te Putahi Paoho has appointed experienced broadcaster and screen industry leader Whetu Fala has been appointed to the board of Maori Television.
She replaces Maori language revitalisation expert Cathy Dewes, who completed three three-year mterms on the board.
Board chair Georgina te Heuheu says Ms Fala, is well known in the screen and broadcasting industries in Aotearoa and overseas for her work both in front of and behind the camera.
She’s of Nga Rauru, Ngati Maniapoto, Ngati Maru ki Taranaki, Samoa, and Rotuma descent
Ms te Heuheu says the next three years will be particularly important as Maori Television upgrades its transmission to High Definition and implements its multiplatform and audience growth strategies.
