Maori Party pick wins UN seat

A disabled man nominated by former Maori Party co-leader Dame Tariana Turia has become the first person with a learning disability to be elected as a member on to any United Nations Committee.
Robert Martin begins a three-year term on the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities next year.
Maori Party co-leader Marama Fox says he has demonstrated outstanding commitment to disability issues and lived a full life despite being born with a brain injury.
She says Aotearoa can be proud that his work has been recognised and we wish him all the best for his term with the United Nations.
