More houses only solution to housing crisis

More state homes, not more marae.
That’s Manurewa MP Louisa Wall’s long term solution to the country’s growing homeless problem.
She’s been working with Manurewa Marae, which has agreed to help Te Puea Marae with its kaupapa of helping the homeless.
She’s proud Auckland’s marae have stepped up, but once people have been fed and given a bed for a few nights, work needs to be done with government agencies on more permanent arrangements.
"The major problem however is there are just not enough houses. There are up to 40,000 homeless across Aotearoa and this challenge is only going to get bigger if the government doesn't start building more state houses to contribute to what is a crisis," Ms Wall says.
