Tamaki Makaurau MP has denied he has any objections to broadcaster Willie Jackson serving on the new Maori language board Te Matawai, but he’s surprised by the speed of his appointment.
Mr Jackson was selected by a subcommittee of the National Urban Maori Authority, chaired by Waipareira head John Tamihere.
Mr Henare says some of the iwi clusters are still debating how they will choose their representative, so the speed of the NUMA decision came as a surprise.
