Te Upoko O Te Ika kaumatua Henare Kingi on Paakiwaha
Maori musicians and iwi radio are mourning the loss of former broadcaster, musician and teacher, Erana Hemmingsen.
From Ngai Tuhoe and Ngati Porou, Erana passed away over the weekend.
She was a former programme director of Maori radio station, Te Upoko o te Ika in Wellington, and was one half of the sister duo; Tuahine.
Henare Kingi remembers working alongside with not only Erana and her sister Jackie at Te Upoko o Te Ika but also with their father, the late Brian Hemmingsen. All who were strong advocates of Te Reo Maori.
