Maori operators get Rotorua tourism showcase
Rotorua is gearing up for the year’s tourism industry highlight, the TRENZ trade show.
Destination Rotorua general manager Oscar Nathan says it’s a chance to give international travel and tourism buyers a first hand experience of Rotorua’s unique landscapes, Maori culture and world-class tourism products.
He says people sell what they know, so that should generate a huge amount of business for the local visitor industry.
The annual conference has drawn more than 350 international buyers from 28 countries, a 10 percent increase on 2015.
It’s expected each buyer will send an average of 4000 visitors to New Zealand, which at an average spend of $3425 amounts to more than $4 billion a year for the New Zealand economy.
