Curtis dark horse for Oscar place

The Dark Horse has finally opened in the United States and talk is already building that it could give lead actor Cliff Curtis a chance at an Oscar.
The film about bipolar chess champion Genesis Potini has been picking up accolades at festival showings, and it was launched last week for limited release at an event that included Temuera Morrison, Rena Owen and occasional New Zealand resident James Cameron, the maker of Titanic and Avatar.
Variety Magazine says it's the film that could give Curtis an Academy Award nomination, after years of laying ethnic character roles for Hollywood blockbusters.
Director James Napier Robertson hopes the hype will encourage audiences into theatres.
