New board for Nga Pae o Te Maramatanga
The electoral college representing the 21 institutions and research partners contributing to Nga Pae o Te Maramatanga has chosen six members of the board to oversee the Maori centre for research excellence.
Another two members were chose by the University of Auckland, which hosts Nga Pae.
The skills-based board will be chaired by Sir Tipene O’Regan of Ngai Tahu, who chaired the centre under its previous incarnation.
Other members are Professor Rawinia Higgins from Victoria University of Wellington, Professor Pare Keiha from AUT University, Invercargill-based environmental scientist Dr Jane Kitson, broadcaster Scotty Morrison, language specialist Te Haumihiata Mason, and from Auckland University, head of chemical sciences Professor Jim Metson and Associate Law Professor Amokura Kawharu.
