Door open for Waitemata DHB jobs

Applications are open for a fast track training course that gives Maori and Pacific people a chance at entry level jobs in the health sector.
Maori health workforce consultant Vanessa Duthie says the DHB is looking for 10 reliable, caring people who can take on roles as health care assistants.
While the course is unpaid, she says people will get non-financial support including help with their application, the four weeks of training inside North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, and transition into permanent jobs.
The course is unusual in that it is open to people with no formal health qualifications.
Ms Duthie says all of those on previous courses who applied for a health care assistant job or a health related course at tertiary level was successful.
She says there is a shortage of Maori and Pacific workers in the sector, which is why they are targeted even though the course is open to all.
Shortlisted people will need to attend a meeting on February 26 and training starts on April 18.
Applications close February 11. Further information contact Vanessa.Duthie@waitematadhb.govt.nz
