Student short in line for prize
The Wairoa Maori Film Festival liked it, and now a short film coming out of Unitec’s department of performing and screen arts is in the running for a prestigious Asian film prize.
Mine was a graduation project for director Paloma Schneideman and writer Emilia Robinson.
Acting student Moana Johnson stars as the young mother must come to terms with the consequences of a difficult decision.
It will be shown at the Asian Micro Film Festival starting in Friday in Lincang in China’s Yunnan Province, were it’s in contention for best international short film.
Robinson’s script was also a runner up in this month’s New Zealand Writers’ Guild Awards.
Unitec head of department Alex Lee says the film was chosen for its aesthetics, story-telling and collaborative team work.
