Marama Davidson to take up seat

The Greens’s newest MP takes up her seat in parliament today with a promise to be a strong voice for Maori.
Marama Davidson from Ngapuhi, Te Rarawa and Ngati Porou fills the seat left vacant with the retirement of former co-leader Russel Norman.
She says being the party’s new Maori affairs spokesperson gives her a lot of room to move.
" So I’m excited about the Maori affairs portfolio, being able to reach across all of the issues ehoa. Our economic development, our social, our cultural issues, te reo, that's what i'm excited about, is with the Maori affairs portfolio. Hopefully I can be involved in a broad range of issues for us," she says.
Marama Davidson also has responsibility for fronting the Green’s positions on social housing, human rights and Pacific peoples.
