Testing chance for league women
There's an international women's rugby league contest in Auckland tomorrow, with Fiji lining up against a Maori Women's side.
Tracey Panapa from the New Zealand Maori Rugby League board says the Maori team was drawn from Labour Weekend's New Zealand Maori Rugby League tournament, and includes some formidable players.
"Got a few Kiwi Ferns in their like Rona Peters, former Kiwi Fern, Laura Mariu and Kahu Peters are in the team. Iri Te Kawa who also played for Te Umutahi, so we've got a big range of girls who are based in Auckland but some also from Taranaki and from Te Aroha," she says.
Kick-off is at 2.30 Saturday at Mountford Park in Manurewa.
