Merry Christmas Sonny.
Embattled Ngapuhi leader Sonny Tau is taking leave of absence from the tribe’s runanga for 12 weeks, citing personal reasons.
His deputy Carol Dodd will be acting chair.
Mrs Dodd says it’s business as usual for Te Runanga a Iwi O Ngapuhi and all group operations and companies.
Mr Tau will also take leave of absence from all his runanga representative roles, including his place on settlement entity Tuhoronuku.
Mr Tau is awaiting trial on charges relating to the taking of protected kukupa from Southland.
