Finlayson boosts Tuhoronuku critics

Treaty Negotiations Minister Christopher Finlayson has breathed hope into the campaign to derail negotiations for a settlement of Ngapuhi historic claims.
In a surprise move last Thursday, he summoned opponents of mandated negotiating group Tuhoronuku to meet with him in Auckland yesterday.
Pita Tipene from Te Kotahitanga o Ngapuhi says the minister seems keen to address the concerns raised by the Waitangi Tribunal in its urgent report on the mandating process.
" Because it was one the recommendation from the Waitangi Tribunal to cease negotiations and the Minister seemed to be giving that indication to us, That while some good faith and good will talks were going on nothing would happen in terms of the negotiations", he says.
Pita Tipene says the prospect of a hapu-based settlement will be discussed at next week's Te Kotahitanga hui.
