He Korowai keen to push on with house plan

The developer of a Kaitaia papakainga says he’s determined to put families into their new homes by Labour Weekend despite threats to the charitable status of his trust.
Ricky Houghton says He Korowai Atawhai Trust is trying to work out how it van get around a court decision that identified a problem with charities selling houses to needy families rather than renting them.
He has discussed the situation with Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett, and a final decision on where he can move families into the cluster of refurbished state house will be up to his trustees.
"We can’t have these houses sitting here taunting these families as they drive past. We’re obliged to carry on and hope that a bit of common sense and good will comes into this thing for the benefit of these babies that are wanting so desperate to get into their new rooms and their new homes and their new beds and their new lives," Mr Houghton says.
Work will start in the next couple of weeks on a new school for the children from the papakainga.
