Red Peak law change flagging a farce

New Zealand First says the addition of Red Peak shows what a farce the flag referendum has become.
Parliament voted this morning to pass a law change put up by the Greens to add a fifth option to the first referendum.
Mr Mark told Radio Waatea host Dale Husband that comes after Prime Minister John Key and his ministers have spent the year telling the country there would be no changes to the process.
"The whole thing has become an absolute circus and all for what – because of a vanity project and a whim of the prime minister who wants to forever and a day when he's an old man sitting in his rocking chair looking out his window watching the New Zealand flag fly to be able to say 'I did that, I changed the New Zealand flag, isn't it pretty.' Give me a break. I don't think New Zealanders are as shallow as that and at the end of the day they will send him a message through the polls," he says.
Ron Mark says the Red Peak design looks like the symbol used in Nazi Germany for sentry boxes, or the logo of an American engineering firm.
