Naati taurahere contribution welcome in hau kaenga development.
Ngati Porou has invited Naati's living in Auckland to contribute to a new water and land management regime on the East Coast.
Chair Selwyn Parata says the runanganui has held about 20 hui in its rohe over the past year to talk about fresh water issues.
That led to a bid to pursue joint management with the Gisborne District Council, which could be trialed in the Waiapu catchment.
" The water is being developed in catchment areas. So we have the Waiapu catchment we have the Uawa catchment, the Matakawa, the Awatere catchment and the Hikuwai catchment right throughout Ngati Porou but we are starting with the Waiapu catchment" he says.
Selwyn Parata says tribal members in Auckland who may be able to help their hapu develop environment management plans are welcome at this evening’s hui at Te Mahurehure Marae in Point Chevalier.
