King’s advisory role an honour for new MP

Labour leader Andrew Little is welcoming the prospect of Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare serving on Kingi Tuheitia's council of advisors.
Mr Little and other members were at the Koroneihana at Turangawaewae Marae today to support Mr Henare, who was there with his whanau and Ngati Hine to bring the kawe mate of his late father Erima Henare, who was a member of Tekaumarua.
He says it's a role where Mr Henare could make a contribution.
"He is emerging as a great leader. He is a leader within the Labour Party caucus. I know he is highly regarded among his people. So I am sure if he took up a role like that it would be a great honour for his and I said to him just this morning how proud and honoured we are in the Labour Party to have him representing," Mr Little says.
About 5000 people from iwi around the motu were at the gathering today.
