The Maori Party is backing calls for rental houses to carry a Warrant of Fitness.
The Child Poverty Action Group is calling on the government to set up and enforce a system of WOF for all rental houses and Maori party co-leader Marama Fox says the party is backing them all the way.
She says the benefits to whanau outweigh the financial cost of this initiative.
Marama Fox says it would be a significant measure in helping to alleviate poverty among Maori.
