Whanau Ora making a difference for Maori Women

One of the country's foremost Maori lawyers Horiana Irwin-Easthope says Whanau Ora is the key to overcoming the inequality of Maori women that exists in New Zealand.
Horiana Irwin-Easthope of Ngati Porou, Ngati Kahungunu and Rakaipaaka descent says in areas of employment, academic achievement and health the situation for Maori women is not equal.
However she says really positive things are happening to address the inequalities at the iwi, hapu and whanau level.
"In my opinion, Whanau Ora as a policy driver is really making the difference" she says.
Horiana Irwin-Easthope, a Fulbright Scholar herself, will be part of a panel discussion the Fulbright Association is holding in Wellington next week to discuss the equality of women in New Zealand and the Pacific.
