Shortage of Te Reo Maori teachers in Te Waipounamu

The tumuaki of a Christchurch kura kaupapa Maori has sent out a call for teachers from the north.
Melanie Riwai Couch says the roll at Te Whanau Tahi has doubled which is good for a kura kaupapa Maori but she is struggling to find suitable teachers in Christchurch for her kura.
She says many Maori have moved to Christchurch to be part of the post-earthquakes rebuild and now things are settling down they are bringing their families to join them.
Melanie Riwai Couch says they now need to attract teachers of Te Reo Maori from the north to come south where the roll is just continuing to grow as students are also deciding to stay at the kura longer.
