An Auckland University student with wide iwi links has won a $30,000 scholarship to Harvard University in the US.
Mataroria Lyndon of Ngati Hine, Ngati Whatua, Waikato, Ngapuhi, Ngati Wai and Ngati Kahu has won this year's Rose Hellaby Postgraduate Maori Scholarship which will allow him to undertake a Masters degree in public health and health policy at the prestigious university.
29 -year old Mataroria Lyndon says while Maori make up only two and a half per cent of our medical workforce Maori health needs are the highest in the country.
