Meanwhile one of the original claimants to the Waitangi Tribunal seeking an urgent hearing on the TPPA says although their application was declined the tribunal nevertheless came back with some strong views on the matter.
Moana Maniapoto says it appears the Tribunal seemed to be saying the lack of time played a part.
" They made some really strong statements. They obviously have seen and they've said when we first approached them that they see the scope for significant prejudice to Maori and they've acknowledged that the TPPA is a different type of agreement than previous free trade agreements" she says.
Moana Maniapoto says this is important because the government says its just another trade agreement and trade agreements are always done secretly
