Wakatu encourages rangatahi to try science

Nelson’s Wakatu Incorporation is teaming up with Plant & Food Research to run a wananga aimed at engaging young Maori with science.
Wakatu spokesperson Ropata Taylor says the tree-day summer wananga in Motueka will involve hands-on science activities and presentations from scientists from Plant & Food Research and other science-based organisations.
He says the incorporation is keen to encourage its young people to become culturally able, well connected to their Wakatu whanau, as well develop their scientific capability.
