Healing OK but merger too far
Maori Party co-leader Marama Fox isn't expecting much from grassroots efforts to form an alliance between the Maori and Mana parties.
A meeting of Auckland activists will be held at Manurewa Marae later this month to discuss the rift caused by Hone Harawira's split from the party.
Ms Fox says there is nothing going on at a leadership level to advance the issue.
"Hone came out at one of the hui where I was with him on the couch on the marae and said he wasn't looking at that at the moment. It's not something we've considered, we've been a bit too busy, but definitely the healing of our people to be able to work together instead of in conflict is something that I would welcome," she says.
