Police called in as Raukura Waikato closes
Trustees for Te Pou o Raukura Waikato Social Services have called in the police to investigate what it’s calling serious financial management issues that have forced the company to close.
The company was last month suspended for 60 days as an approved provider after the Ministry of Social Development received a critical report from audit firm Deloitte.
Trustee Huirama Matatahi says the financial situation was the main item in a range of factors that led to the decision to close down immediately.
He says the immediate concerns were continuity of care for whanau who had been receiving support.
Trustees are working with contract funders to explore whether programmes and staff can be transferred to other Waikato-Tainui providers.
