Money over flag for league giant
Palmerston North's James Tamou had a cracking State of Origin last night, despite his New South Wales team finishing a drop goal behind.
His performance will have making Kiwis' supporters ruing what might have been.
Former Kiwi Wairangi Koopu says the giant prop is one of the form players in this year's National Rugby League competition.
He says making the jump to Origin rather than waiting to be picked for the New Zealand national side could be because of the financial inducement, with a generous fees put into a fund players get on retirement.
"Once he retires he'll probably move back home, but if any one of us was offered that kind of money to stay there play for another country, just like Rangi Chase who is playing for the English side, you've got to take it," say Wairangi Koopu.
