Current national secondary schools champions Rakaumangamanga from Huntly and previous champions Nga Taiatea Wharekura from Hamilton will get a chance as both in the running for titles a next year’s event in Hastings.
They came fourth and first respectively in the Tainui Secondary Schools Kapa Haka competition at Claudelands Arena this weekend.
Te Maurea Whiritoi, which is a combined group from Hamilton Boys’ and Girls High Schools, came second and Te Wananga o Aotearoa’s Ruakura-based secondary school, Tai Wananga, came third.
