Ngai Tahu kaiwhakahaere Ta Mark Solomon says investment in trade training is paying off.
The South island iwi has teamed up with tertiary institutions and infrastructure companies to ready Maori to work on the Christchurch rebuild.
Last week it launched its He Toki ki te Mahi apprenticeship scheme.
Sir Mark says it’s a logical extension of successful He Toki ki Te Rika – Adze in the hand – pre-trade training scheme.
