Tuhoronuku right to push on

An experienced treaty lawyer says Tuhoronuku is right to get on with negotiating Ngapuhi claims despite a Waitangi Tribunal investigation of its mandate.
Tuhoronuku is about to appoint three negotiators without waiting for the tribunal to complete its report.
That has upset critics who say the process is flawed, but Willie Te Aho says you can’t please everyone.
He says when he worked for Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa, that organsition faced down Waitangi Tribunal hearings and court challenges.
" You know the leadership has to continue to focus on achieiving an outcome and we have worked through challenges as they came. And I think that's what Tuhoronuku is doing is that until the tribunal says you've got it completely wrong or provides an alternative solution you've got to go with the mandate you've got " he says.
Willie Te Aho says everyone wants a settlement in the north, but there are divisions about the process.
