Prime purpose a vote for change
Do what you need to do to give the Government a message.
That’s the message coming out of the Labour camp with less than two weeks to go before the Northland by-election.
Tai Tokerau MP Kelvin Davis, whose general election run was boosted by a late endorsement from Winston Peters, says Labour leader Andrew Little has made it clear candidate Willow Jean Prime has a future in parliament, but it may not be in an electorate set.
"Politics is a game that moves fast and things change and when we saw that Winston is right up there and it’s possible he may take the seat and Labour is coming third in the race, well people have to send the government a message in the first instance and they have to vote according to how they think best to do that," he says.
Kelvin Davis says the promises being made by National and its candidate Mark Osborne are a sign of desperation, and he’s expecting Te Kao to be getting an international airport by the end of the race.
